I am looking for advice.

I have worn SoCap extensions for the last five years with great success. My own hair has remained healthy, and I lose at most three extensions during 4-5 months of wear.

Recently my stylist switched salons, and in doing so, she lost her access to SoCap hair. She instead installed a brand called MegaTips, which are what her new salon uses.

These extensions are also strand-by-strand but seem to be a little thicker. I am losing 2-5 extensions every time I wash and comb out my hair, and it looks like they are taking several of my own hairs with them each time. (My hairs that are still attached seem to be a combination of broken and pulled out.)

Is it possible that these extensions required a thicker section of my own hair and my stylist didn't allow for that? The only other variable is that I have been applying John Freida Anti-Frizz serum to the bottom half of my hair, but I doubt it could be traveling up to the bonds...

I would be grateful to anyone with advice/experiences...

It does sound like a sectioning error, or maybe a tension one. Without see your hair it is hard to say.

I would suggest a higher quality anti-frizz serum. There could potentially be an ingredient that is causing the bonds to dissolve.

For our clients we recommend Redken Heat Glide or Moroccan Oil.

Unfortunately you may need to talk to your stylist and tell them that you are unhappy with the new hair system and want to go back to SoCap.  I am surprised that your stylist could not make some arrangements to get the SoCap system for you.  If they can't I would seriously consider going to a different extension expert that can get you SoCap.  Afterall, if you are pulling out your own hair, that is not good.  I agree that trying a new product might help but long term if it doesn't, I would go back to what has been working for you for 5 years.

What's the current status.  Did you try the different products and what happened?
