Mr.Rapunzel, you sound like a great hubby. My husband just kinda goes with the flow as far as my hair is concerned. If I get it cut, ok, if I don`t, ok. I mean he secretly wants it down to my butt, but then again, he likes it short. I wished that he would be more adamant about my growing it, but then again, I`d probably get it cut just to spite him,hehe....Just kidding....
I wanted to thank you for that styling tip that you gave me about combing my hair straight back in order to give it more lift as it air dries. That was the ticket my dear man! Wonderful results... Thank you.....Meg
So good to see you here. I am very interested to hear how your wife does with her growing efforts. It is so great that you encourage her. I think that is 50% of the battle. I have so many people email to tell me that they cut their hair because of peer or family pressures. So the fact that you are helping your wife is very cool. Thanks so much for sharing her story with us.
Best wishes, Karen
That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger or drives you totally insane. :-)

What a great idea for a new board! I think "Long Hair Support" is a great topic, and I`m looking forward to reading what others have to say. As for me, as my pen name suggests, I`m a guy (40 something) who loves long hair.
I`m posting to praise my wife and all of you who are growing or keeping your hair long partly to please a significant other. I realize what a commitment in time and effort it is.
For a little background, my wife had beautiful waist-length hair that she cut short when she was in high school, four years before we met. I admited the old photos of her with long hair and encouraged her to grow it long again. However, that was in the early 1980`s, when there seemed to be more of a feeling that professional women should wear short or at most mid-length hair, and she declined, keeping her hair just above shoulder-length. She grew it out starting in the late 1980`s when she became pregnant with our first child. It grew rapidly through that and two later pregnancies, and she kept it long until cutting it short in April 1998. She has since grown it long again, to a current length of 17 inches, and plans on keeping it long for a few more years (she`s 41). She likes how much I appreciate her hair, but I`m still constantly grateful for her willingness to keep it long. Anyway, that`s my story, and I look forward to seeing other expressions of "Long Hair Support".
