Good point Hal -- agreed.

I wondered there for a moment if BJ was a reference to BaldJasmine or BlondeJohn... hmm...

COB, I'm not quite sure why you chose to rehash that here. You've never written anything that would suggest racism, so I didn't think you needed to defend yourself.

Without naming names... I will again ask for everyone to drop this subject. Thank you. This discussion is now closed.

How's it going Conan.

Not all Arabs or Middle Eastern people are uncivilized either. Not all of them are sexist towards women.
Some are, some aren't.
True, the Muslim Fundamentalist extremists intimidate the Middle East and oppress women more than most parts of the world, but many Arabs do want to be modern and have women's rights. It is a tragic situation there, Hopefully it will improve.

I wrote on that thread you mentioned, but I wasn't the one that insinuated you were racist. I agree, that is a strong word. But please don't assume that western countries are automatically more civilized. I do the same thing, I assume that sometimes too, so I am guilty of those assumptions as well. But I know better.

I think the most important thing is inner beauty.
While Oprah tries to bring these woman self esteem up, and Dr. Phil has the uncanny knack f bringing tohers down. I think we should look at the fact that beauty comes from within.
You can but a band-aid on a damn but it's still going to break.
I think "Clothes" and "hairstyle changes" can be used improperly if there are focused as the cure to low self esteem.
On a side note, although I repect Dav decker and appreciate that he went back and read all the post from the recnt controversy we had. Id like to state for the record that i am not a racist.
Racist is a very big, dirty word, and i feel to call someoe a racist when it comes to soemthing as trival as hair to be unfair.
The fact is that I never mentioned or addressed africa. In fact i wasnt even thinking of Africa when I mentioned uncivilzed countries . I was more thinking about Middle eastern countires were woman rights are non exisitant. Futhermore, while there are whole tribes and groups of woman in Africa who shave their heads, the person who out out resepect for dave deckers request not to rehash things, i wont mention there name but for them, I'd like to also state that they neglected to mention the many beautiful african orginated hairstyles such as braiding, conrowing, beads and etc.
So to say Im am racist because African woman shaved their heads and i made acomment about shaved heads is perposterous. Because the fact of the matter is in order for a comment to be racist, shaving ones heads would have to be exclusive to race of people, which it is not. When I think of Africa i think of its cultural richness and recollect braided hair styles , beads, and some with shaven heads. not one look in particular though.
I just wanted to share that with you all though because sometimes were only painted half of a picture
not to mention my intial comments were saying how i thought Melissa Ethridge was brave for showing she was bald due to cancer. That message somehow was missed from the very begininng.

Great makeovers.

I like many of the new 'dos.

If you are ready to go short, there are so many cute styles to choose from. Maybe consult with a qualified stylist at a good salon on a look that would flatter you.

Good luck!

On Thursday's Oprah they did wardrobe makeovers - but I was struck by the haircut they gave one of the women. You can see it here:

http://www2.oprah.com/tows/slide/200502/20050217/slide_20050217_109.jhtml

Go to pic 8 to see the before. I am much shorter than the 5'11" guest, but I have a similar hair color. Would this style look good on someone with a roundish face and fine hair? (her hair appears to be fine to me) My hair does have a very slight wave. I am a 40 something stay at home mom, and want something stylish without being too wild.
