Welcome, harvestmoon!

I take the GNC brand Ultranourishair (found in the women's section); it has a mix of a variety of supplements beneficial to the hair, and provides an extra helping of water-soluable B-vitamins. I recommend it. In addition to this, and a regular once-per-day multivitamin, I also take Silica (Horsetail herb) to help reduce fallout.

Let us know what you decide to add to your routine.

Biotin may also cause breakouts in sensitive folks.

MSM is another supplement that long hair growers take. It's a byproduct of some kind of plankton bio-process, and is a naturally-occurring substance in vegetables. However, I think MSM is destroyed when the food is cooked or processed. .. It's an aid to the body's making of binding agents-- forming tissues and the like. People report faster nail and hair growth with MSM supplements. MSM has no overdose amount-- your body takes what it needs and excretes the rest.

A multivitamin is the best thing. You don't want to take too much because too much of some things (like vitamin A) can make hair fall out. Some people take biotin and silica, but I tried it and didn't find it caused any more growth than the usual 1/2 inch a month. Some people have also said the biotin and silica caused them to miss periods.

I think the best thing you can do is avoid harsh chemicals, and use good gentle hair care so you can keep every inch you grow.

Good luck!

Hello all, I'm starting the journey of letting my hair grow out long again. It used to be down past my bra strap but cut it after having two little ones. I was just curious about what vitamins and supplements are good to take. I already take a multi-vitamin but what else can I take to help growth.
Thanks Sherry
