It is amazing how a few tips and some reassurance that what you are doing is a good thing can make you really end up having a good day!
I have an ionic/diffuser dryer with a low setting and a cold shot-I hadn't thought of trying that without product to scrunch in curls, but I'm sure it will work. I'll probably try that tonight!
Thanks Lots Guys, strawberryfine

Just a month and a half ago i adopted the Curly Girl routine and my routine has gotten SO much simpler. Especially the amount of products i put in my hair. I used to have as many as 3 at once.
I cut out traditional shampoos and use a non-sulfate scalp cleanser and natural cleansers to "wash". Use a lot, lot, lot of conditioner, 'cone and alcohol free. Use a mixture of my own creation for a leave in and use a clear gel, alcohol free and 'cone free as well. Everything i use is water soluble and my hair has never looked or felt better.
CO wash only since September '04! Dyed red botticelli curls (3b), fine and just past shoulder length

I don't use leave-in conditioners. On particularly humid summer days, I rub a drop of Redken Glass through the ends of my hair. It doesn't seem to have any negative effect on my hair's condition. The rest of the time I don't use any styling products. I think products containing alcohol are bad for your hair. Some people warn against silicone. I'm sure others on this board would know of other ingredients to avoid.
If I want some wave in my hair, I section it twist it into a few loose coils. I then wrap the coils in scrunchies (when my hair is damp) and let my hair dry overnight. If I want some lift at the roots, I put my damp hair in a bun on top of my head. When I take it down, my hair looks fuller and has some loose waves.
My user name is WAY too long. Just call me Juliana. :-)

I'm using nothing but shampoo, conditioner and oils. I started this out of a concern about what long-term effects leave-in products might be having on my hair.
(I don't know how long this will last because I like to scrunch my waves, but hair condition and length come first for me, then curls.)
Do you do this, or do you tend to use leave-in styling products? Any ingredients to avoid?
TIA, strawberryfine
