I agree with you AnaisSatin. I think it's especially useful for those who are prone to tangles. Conditioning beforehand can remove tangles and prevent new tangles which may be caused by shampooing. Like you, I don't condition my scalp twice. I use a Shea Butter conditioner for the second conditioning -- I do use that on my scalp because it moisturizes and soothes an itchy scalp without making hair greasy.

My user name is WAY too long. Just call me Juliana. :-)

Not necessarily... SuperLonghair Nicole Z put it perfectly: the first C protects the years-old length from the shampoo.

CWC is mostly for Longhairs--works best for those who need the extra moisture, such as long, coarse (often dry), or curly/wavy hair (also more prone to dryness than straight hair). My hair used to be a frizzy mess. I've had spectacular results with the CWC method and I'm suggesting longhairs at least give it a try to see if their hair likes it. Shampoo is designed to clean the scalp, not the length.

There's a perfect routine for everybody, people just need to find a happy medium. But the way you are an example, shorthairs probably won't need it. Having relatively short hair, you won't need it.

I don't know about Coconut oil, but I use to do CWC a lot. Why I stopped. CWC made my hair look greasy. The logic of CWC in my view is flawed. Of course my hair is long for a man, but the front is not shoulder length yet. This is my experience with CWC with medium length hair. The back is to my shoulders and the front and sides are framing my face.

Let me see Conditoner puts artificial oils in your hair, the shampoo strips most of it out, than the last C puts oils back in their hair. Wouldn't WC do the same thing as CWC. I wash my hair, then I put conditioner in, and let it sit for 10 minutes.

Then I wash it all out with the coldest water I can stand

Hi Rzwen,

Here's my duplicate post concerning moisture and conditioning:

C= conditioner, W= wash
(I use CWC, WCC, and a CWCC every so often)

CO (conditioner only): getting rid of shampoo completely and cleaning your scalp and length with cheap dollar store or Walmart C, finishing off with your regular C.
CWC: a cheap C on the length before shampoo, then shampoo, then regular C after shampoo)
WCC: shampoo, then condition with two different kinds in a row (one cheap, one regular)
CWCC: personally I work coconut oil through my hair before a wash. and then I shampoo it out. I'll finish that off with two different conditioners (one from the dollar store and another that I use regularly.)

Cheap C's include V05 and Suave.

All of these methods I use to keep my coarse and porous hair hydrated. I am Asian and I've found that my wavy/curly friends have the same hair needs as me-- the key thing here is moisture, moisture, moisture. and of course, gentle handling.

Jojoba, coconut, and other oils (like sweet almond, olive (kinda heavy) and shea butter/oil without stearics) can be used as a heavy prewash oiling treatment (use 1/2 to 1 tsp. work through hair, shampoo out, and finish off with a regular C.

Or.... 1-2 drops as additional leave-in conditioning, rubbing those 1-2 drops through the palms and then through the hair (length only, not on scalp)

Walmart carries coconut oil (eKatherine knows what brand it is.. please post) and Jojoba is found in health food stores like Pilgrim's Natural Health.. or online through Cedarvale.net or Emporiumnaturals.com

HTH and a hug,
Anais

Thanks for the quick replies!

I'll be trying out the CWC Method.
Can someone give a short tutorial on using Coconut/Jajoba oil? Where can I get these oils? Do WalMart or CVS stores carry them?

Thanks.

CWC means literally Condition - Wash - Condition - you first put conditioner on your length, then shampoo your scalp, rinse it all, then condition your length again. It helps to keep your hair moisturized and prevents shampoo from drying out your length.

Coconut oil is supposed to help moisturize your hair, but I don't use it - I prefer jojoba oil.
My hair is almost to my knees (~50") and continues to grow longer. Rather slowly these days, but that's ok - it's still *growing*.
