QuoteReplyTopic: Removing Manic Panic Dye.... Posted: June 24 2001 at 2:07pm
ooh! I love manic panic. anyway, i had my hair a rock star pink color at the end of last summer. the stuff stayed in for a while until i took a dip in the pool. that stuff was out really fast. and as far as dying over it- if the color you like darker than the color you have now, it will probably take. if not, or it`s not much darker, try getting it out first.
· Use of an alkaline shampoo will promote removal of color from the hair. Color may also be professionally covered with a darker, natural shade of MANIC PANIC ® Hair Color.
· A pre-packaged hot oil treatment may further accelerate the removal of color: Follow the manufacturer`s instructions carefully for application of oil. To remove oil along with some color, first apply shampoo without the addition of water. Add water very gradually as you continue to shampoo until oil is completely removed.
· Consult with manufacturers of lightening and color removal products before attempting their use or get the advice of a licensed hair dresser.

what i have found also from too many years of experience is leaving a VERY THICK conditioner or hot oil treatment on your hair for an obscene amount of time usually does the trick, then color with a blond semi-perm. dye or glaze to let your hair recover.
I`ve used Manic Panic Dye over bleached hair...and now, I want it gone - completely. Right now...it`s faded to a dull, white-like color. Can anyone recommend a method to remove the dye...or perhaps a certain product? I just HATE this ugly color. On another hand...how about dyeing over it? i don`t want to use another punky color (for now, anyway), but a more natural one. The only thing I`m afraid of is that the color might be too intense on the faded, white-color. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
