Then I would definitely go to the doctor and get it checked out.

LongBraidz,
How did you get your hair and nail condition back under control again?

Susan W,
I'm not so sure that it is just new ones growing in. If it is then I am shedding an awful lot! My hair is really in bad shape. It's not just a few fly aways here and there. They are all over... tons of them.. even on top of my head where fresh hair has grown.

It sounds to me like you're very careful with your hair, and it's more likely new ones growing in than old ones breaking off. If you're worried about it though, especially if you have other reasons too, do go to a doctor and have them check your thyroid and blood to make sure you're alright and getting enough vitamins.

Hi Shy One,
I do believe that hormones most definantly play an important role with our hair and nails. I had a hormonal imbalance because of a Hysterectomy almost a year ago. My hair shed like crazy and it became extremely course and dry. I also noticed that my hair in front on the right side of my head was becoming thinner. My nails became very brittle and chipped and my skin was terriable...all blotchy and dry. Perhaps you may want to seek a medical opinion. Best of Luck to you.

P.S. Please don't cut your hair!!!!

I really need some help with my hair! I have long, straight, fine hair. It's almost to my hips. It doesn't feel dry at all but it keeps breaking. I have a million fly aways that I think is from my hair breaking off. I don't brush my hair when it's wet. I don't color or blow dry or anything like that. I use a wide tooth comb and shampoo and condition every other day. I even use a leave in conditioner for fine hair. I don't know what else to do. Cutting it won't help because it's even breaking above my ears some now. It grows really fast too.

Does having a nutrition deficiency make hair weak? I've suspected (not because of the hair) having a hormonal problem before. Could this cause my hair to do this? Has anyone experienced this or know what I should do? Maybe my hair isn't breaking but shedding like crazy?

I would really appreciate any replies.
