QuoteReplyTopic: How far s too far for teen styles? Posted: January 12 2002 at 5:40pm
Thanks for the input folks. The styles won`t be gothic (I hate that look - sorry goths) most goths I know just have black hair - that they never wash (sorry again) in fact I`ve never seen one in the shop come to think of it.
What I am aiming to do is push the boundaries of style. These days we seem to be stuck in a fairly boring age for hair, ever since the "Rachel" or maybe before people seem to just want very standard styles. Here in the UK those with the freedom to express themselves more don`t really take up that freedom. The most origional and definately the most open minded clients are usually my age (late 20`s early 30`s)
In fact here is another question, do we "grow" into looking good and knowing what style to choose? I know plenty of women that looked a state through their 20`s, then after children and the big 3-0 they have begun taking much more of an interest in playing about with style, with clothes too.
Well, mostly anything goes, especially with older teens. If the style is more about an image than the hair, eg. a goth or hippy type style, the don`t cut it unless they want that image.
I like this question but i don`t know the answer! I have a freind that bleached her hair and then put blue streaks in it and then she added pink streaks a couple weeks later. Her head looks like a flag! If i did that my mom would kill me! She did not even want me to cut my hair. She is OK with it now and it is not too radical or anything but her mom helped her color it the first time. I think you have to talk with them and see if they think it is OK.
Well it all really depends on the person, I`ve noticed that if the person wears it well, and with confidence most anything will get by the radar of a college scene, highschool is similar, but if it is too radical, such as liberty spikes, or dark short styles, they may get labeled a goth, which could be unwanted.
Hi all. I`m a stylist and I am hoping to soon showcase some new styles. The models I`ve pursuaded to help me are mostly gung-ho about modelling radical/fantasy styles but I am worried since they are mostly under 18 and I don`t want to get them into too much grief for the styles I have in mind, which will have various forms of radical cutting methods and style.
How far in terms of hairstyles is too far these days for school, college etc? I know its difficult to say in general. The styles I am hoping to cut are mostly variations on bobs and very disconnected cuts, some may have extremely sort bangs/fringes and I`m hoping to have a volunteer to have her eyebrows shaved.
I`m just probing for opinions from the voice of youth. Being nearly 30 I`m knocking on now..lol
