I just saw a girl working at the berrito shop that had a very sexy hair cut. It soundeds like she looks very similar to you. Her hair style looked very similar to your Claire Danes style in the mod squad. Man that burrito girl was HOT!
I think you should get highlights that are lighter than your dirty blonde tone. Get your hair layered and make sure it slightly touches your shoulder (medium length). Use some kind of hair accessory to hold part of your hair at the side.

Well I say go for a radical change gal. Way to go. Get it cut like Shirley Manson from Garbage and trust me you will shock everyone. It`s the most sought after hairstyle right now. So give it a shot. If you are lloking for something more subtle try the normal pixie cuts .
Well, you have the perfect face shape! An oval shape can carry any hair style..just find something you like and go for it! But, if you are just wanting to SHOCK some people, you might try using some TEMPORARY colors and tying some knots into your hair. This will not be permanant for YOU. Remember, it does take alot of work to grow hair back out that is short. SPIKERS has some awesome hair colors now, that wash out in ONE shampoo! They come in about every color, and can be found in salons. Some even contain glitter....I don`t know where you are are...i`d LOVE to do your hair for prom. lol (Sounds fun! I want to shock all my friends and my boyfriend at the prom with a new hair cut im not interested in putting my hair up in an a boring updo like everybody else is doing for the prom and the prom will be next weekend so I have to get my hair cut very soon....
Now what I want to know is what kind of hair cut should I get and remember I want some thing really different from anyone else at the prom like I said on my subject "I want to shock all my friends at the prom" and let me tell you about my self and my hair I am 17 years old and my hair color is dirty blonde and its just past bra length and has some grown out long layers and my face shape is oval and Im willing to go short but not a buzz cut or bald because my parent`s would kill me!!!!!! and thanks for helping me out
