hair is long, straight, no bangs, no layers, VERY thick, square face, what can I do?

P.S.
coloring:
hair is light brown, almost blond
eyes are brown
skin is medium/olive with golden undertones

history:
dyed it red about 4 years ago, looked great but i want to work more with my natural color
had layers for awhile, they slowly grew out, cut about 4 inches off of hair last year, didnt work too well
future:
im thinking about bangs and/or layers, or cutting it short.
i currently wear a center part but Ill probably change that soon.
