KT--Don't attempt a double-process blonde by yourself. You're dealing with strong chemicals that can fry your hair and have wildly varying results if your timing and application aren't EXACT. (This is why it costs so much.) Even professionals don't do their own roots. When I dyed my dark hair blonde, it seemed I had to have the roots retouched after every meal. Sixty bucks is a /lot/ of money. You could try an all-over, single-process color in a shade closer to your own hair (lighter brown or auburn, for example). Not only is this better for your hair, it's cheaper, it usually looks more natural and flattering, and it makes regrowth a lot less noticeable. Since you have already-processed hair, though, you should still have a professional do it.If you're really in love with the blonde, you can save a little money by going longer between appointments--if you can bear it.Ally
I have almost dark brown hair and am going grey! I have been having a pro take me to a light blonde. It's a two step process. Take color out, add color back. But it's to expensive. I can't afford to keep doing it but I really enjoy the results. I even know the formula she uses but it's all greek to me! Can I repeat this process at home or am I stuck doing this every 5 weeks?
