I use Aveda's beautifying oil. I have used both the healthfood store bought jojoba oil and the Aveda's oil and the one thing I like about Aveda's is that the consistancy is great for massaging into the scalp. It goes a long way. I get my tips of my fingers nice and oily and go first at the temple areas and front of my scalp..and gently glide my fingers through the crown area and sides. I add more oil as I go depending on the need. When I get to the back of my neck.. I add more like I did when I was first starting out in the front areas. I then take more oil and start smearing it on the length of my hair.. getting my head totally oily. After I have my hair real goopy, I then start to massage my scalp. It helps to have the oil all distributed before starting to massage. I keep my thumbs on the back of my head and use the rest of my fingers to do all the work and work my way up the back. Then move my thumbs to my temple and forehead areas and use my remaining fingers to massage the top and sides. I only do this about twice a month. I try to leave the oil on for most of the day.. this week, it ended up staying on for almost 24 hours. And I had great results. The massage therapy is great for unwinding.. Ok, since we are talking about acupuncture and scalp massages - does anyone have good instructions for doing a scalp massage? I find that my hair tends to get tangled up in my fingers /or brush or whatever I'm using and it doesn't feel like I'm getting very much actual scalp massaged. Any good tips will be appreciated.Deb
