I used to straighten my hair when I was your age, and instead of model-type hair, I'd have straight, frizzy hair (which lasted about one week, too). I agree with what Karen recommends- try Ouidad, follow the directions (by that I mean use a hood dryer for the deep treatment-you'll get the best results) and be patient. I think regular use helps, too. I also use Aveda's Shampure and the Bixa color conditioner twice a week, and even though my hair's soft, it's still frizzy. I don't know which styling aid Karen recommends from Aveda to combat the frizzies, all I know is I don't have it! In my personal experience Ouidad is the only thing which has helped my hair without making it feel yucky and weighed down from silicones. I used to hate my curly, frizzy hair, and wish for straight hair (like everyone else's), but now I like it. Lori

Hi,First of all, Ouidad's sample kit will not straighten your hair. It will, if it is a good fit for your hair, help eliminate the frizzies and the dry crunchies.Ouidad believes in controlling curly hair, not necessarily making it straight. However, she does chemically straighten hair at her hair boutique in NYC. She has several curl experts besides herself at her salon.Ouidad explained that if you chemically straighten your hair and use her Deep Treatment mixed in with the chemical straightening mix that you will achieve a much softer straightened look and it will probably last longer.Have you read my Ouidad interview? She explains that curly hair has a unique corkscrew shape that never completely closes. Therein is a lot of the problems with the frizzies. There are many things you can do to eliminate the frizziness. You can even achieve a straighter look if you use a good gel like Ouidad's F/X and slick your hair back to give you a less curly look. One of the keys to the curly hair shape is that is that is it very fragile and requires a lot of extra care. My stylist has very very curly hair and she uses Aveda Shampure which is very moisturizing and then Aveda's Cherry Almond Bark or Deep Conditioner. Her hair is gorgeous and still curly, but not frizzy at all. She also uses Aveda's Curessence spray to help keep the curly soft and unfrizzy.Ouidad is in NYC and if you are willing to make the trip, I am sure you could see someone there that could help. If going to NYC is not possible, then start with the moisturizing shampoo routine and see what happens.Ouidad's sample set is somewhere in the range of $25. They send it out pretty quick. So you could try that. There is no guarantees though that it will work for your hair type, but there is a good chance it may and that could be worth it.Also, the longer you wear your hair, the heavier it is and the weight will hold the curls down somewhat.I hope that helps a little bit.Good luck & best wishes.Karen> ok, heres the thing...I have naturally curly> hair (i'd like to call it naturally FRIZZY hair> though)...I get my hair relaxed at a local salon> about every 3 months...it lasts 1 week and thats> it...then it just goes back to its normal disgusting> self...my hair is unbelievably hard to manage..im> going away to college in about a month and I desperately> need to do something with it...i dont want to> deal with gross frizzy hair while i'm away...i> was thinking of getting it permanently straightened> but then just doing it curly everyday still...i> was hoping that would somehow tame it...i was> also thinking about going to this oiudad that> everyone seems to rave about...i'm very confused> here...i need advice!!...can anyone giveme some> type of suggestion please!!...and is it at all> possible that oiudad can simply straighten it> for me without me having to use her sample kit> and all those products she talks about?Related Link:Ouidad Interview
