layered trims

I suggest you do regular trims on the bottom and leave the layers alone as much as possible so it can all catch up, if you do not choose to cut most of the layering off as I did. Anyone who has slow growing hair should never attempt layers unless they are completely sure on the hairstyle. Even for fast growing hair it takes quite awhile to get it all back to one length. If your layers are unhealthy, try some super conditioning and baby trims while doing the regular trims on the bottom layer. Are you using a hot curling iron on the top layers? You maybe overdoing on the styling and frying the hair there. If you want it to all grow out and be healthy also, you will have to treat it nicely. Good luck.. Cher~

I am not sure> which to trim - just the layered ends, or straight> across at the bottom.I had layers cut in my hair last January or February (can't remember) , long ones but had at least 4-5 different lengths cut (been sorry ever since) Anyway, where I go to buy my Aveda products, a stylist there said to leave the upper layers alone for hearty trims and just cut on the bottom but that to get a stylist to hold the top layers up and trim the very edges only just to keep them in good shape while letting them grow. After I had them cut originally, I went back immediately and had quite a bit cut off to get rid of the bottom layer. I absolutely hated the haircut. I waited for a few weeks then went back again for a few more inches taken off. I then waited 4 months and went back for a two inch cut in June. Now I am dealing with a small amount of layers but some are there. Thank goodness my hair grows fast or I would be in deep depression over the layer bit. I intend on letting it grow for quite awhile before trimming again. It's a couple of inches from my bra strap now and want it to make it to that goal asap. Plus I wear my hair up alot and I can make a bun better if the ends are not blunt cut. The layers remaining are pretty close together now. That's my two cents on the subject! good luck.. Cher~
