My hair is normally very, very straight, and it tangles little and is relatively easy to control when I use the Aveda (well, except that it wants to slip out of every type of holder I have tried, but that's true with NG also). When I use NG, my hair seems to have more body, and a little wave to it, but it also tangles more and is more difficult to keep neat. This is probably one of those things that varies based on a person's hair. I like some of the effects I get with the NG, but it doesn't seem to make my hair as soft. I'm very happy with the results of using it periodically, though. The Jojoba, by the way, did seem to make my hair very soft and easy to control, but given its effects on my scalp, it's not a product I can use. It's too bad, because I really liked it, especially the smell. I may try it just on my ends, and rinse it off my hands really, really fast - I'd hate to waste it.Laura Janelswanson@sunflower.bio.indiana.edu

I was just thinking of the ladies who has given NG a try and was wondering if anyone kept up with it and the decision on whether to keep using it or not. So far I am very pleased with it. I have noticed it makes my silver very brilliant and soft. And straightens out my hair which I am thrilled with. I prefer my hair straight. When I use products that give my hair a wavy feel, it makes my silver uncontrollable. With NG, I do not have to use Phomollient very much. Only when I put my hair up in a bun and then I rub some on the sides and back to keep my bun looking neat. Anyway.. I was just wondering.. Glad to hear life is back to "normal chaos" .... With teens in the house here, life gets pretty hectic.. It's a wonder I have any hair at all to chat about at the site..!! Cher~

I was wondering about extended> use and her opinion..Well, my life went a little nuts for a while...but it's starting to get back to normal chaos. I'm using the Nature's Gate periodically, maybe about once a week. I like the conditioning of the Original Herbal, and the Jojoba conditioner was nice, but bothered my scalp. I read the back and found out it had coffee in it, so I'm not so surprised. (I'm allergic to coffee.)I've been using Aveda's Color Conditioners on some days, and I did find that the Original Herbal takes a lot of the accumulated color out of my hair. It can be frustrating, but at this point I've decided to give up on the Color Conditioners as soon as I have used up what I have. The ends of my hair are currently taking the color much better than the roots, so I'm ending up with two-tone hair, and it's starting to annoy me. I actually used the Original Herbal shampoo deliberately to take out some of the color yesterday. All in all, I've decided that the smell of the Nature's Gate is a bit strong for me, and that I wouldn't want to use it all the time, but that I like it a lot and plan to use it now and then. It does have the advantage of costing a lot less than Aveda, so even using it occasionally saves me some money, and that's always a plus!Laura Janelswanson@sunflower.bio.indiana.edu

I hadn't heard anymore from Laura and her testing of the Original Herbal.. I was wondering about extended use and her opinion.. I did a testing on leaving in the NG's herbal conditioner for 15 minutes last night and it did very well. I have found that NG straightens my hair out while Aveda brings in the waves and curls. So, I can do different styles by just switching products. I prefer my hair straight so I find I use more NG. By the way Dawn, I really like the Jojoba line of NG. I can understand why you have been hooked on it over the summer.. Cher~
