I have a small amount of static most of the year. Virtually everyday during this summer, I shocked myself when I touched a filing cabinet at work. This winter it will be much, much worse though. It's been raining since Friday - because of the storm. My hair is straight as a board, and I wouldn't even try to make it curl in this weather. It wouldn't take a curl because of the humidity.I did go to Vegas in August though, my hair hates it there. I'm not sure if it's the water or just what, but the static was unbearable. I could barely comb it.Thanks,Debbie

>Hi, Leslie!I lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for about three years. Because the air was so dry, I found that my longish hair air dried very quickly, but often got very staticky. I used a lot of leave-in conditioner... Aveda Elixir is my favorite. Also, because it was such a warm climate, we did a lot of swimming and boating, both of which can wreak havoc on hair. Once again, leave-in conditioner, deep conditioner and a hat were very important.I now live in Ohio, my home state, where it's very humid in the summer. My naturally wavy hair gets matted very easily, so I use a spray detangler made by Louise Marie Longhairs that I absolutely love. Other than that, I find the humid climate to be healthier for my hair and skin.Take care!Jen

Leslie,I live in North Pole,Alaska, a very dry climate. I was raised in Lompoc, Ca but the difference in climates doesn't seem to affect my Med. thick, straight, unprocessed, rear length hair. Static electricity is my number one problem in winter. I just use a leave in conditioning spray to tame the fly aways.

> Hi everyone!!> I was wondering if anyone could share where they live,> and how the climate affects their hair.I grew up on the East Coast, which meant that it was fairly humid most of the spring and summer, with drier air in fall and especially in the winter (although we had some very damp days too, during storms). My hair was less cooperative in summer, when it was humid, and more staticky in winter, when it was drier.I'm in Indiana now (as if you couldn't guess from my address), and again, when it's humid, my hair tends to be a little uncooperative (although the products I use on it now mean it does much better than it used to - and it also doesn't get as humid here). I can't really tell about winter yet - last winter was, according to those who have lived here longer, very unusual. We didn't get much snow at all, and it stayed reasonably warm, so it wasn't as dry as it might be. I spend a lot of time in the lab, though, which is in a building that is very dry in the winter. I had some trouble with static - I started carrying spray around with me every day so that I could deal with it.Laura Janelswanson@sunflower.bio.indiana.edu

Hi everyone!!I was wondering if anyone could share where they live, and how the climate affects their hair. I am in Southern California and my hair seems to be pretty good right now, not too dry. I am still contemplating a move to Arizona and have no idea what that particular climate does to the hair. I would be interested in responses on this subject. I would love to know where you all live and hair your hair fares (sp)?Leslie
