Yes I've had damage b/f when I permed. Breaks off at the scalp a lot. They said it was from too tight rods, but I'm a tenderhead and didn't feel they were tight. As far as how long it stayed in my hair, Too long! It took years to grow out the mess it made!

If so, what kind of experience did you have as far as damage and how long it stayed in your hair? I have been doing long hair perms for many years and I reccomend Redken's Vector Plus perms for natural soft waves. This perm when used with Redken "perm lock" can be shampooed immediately after rinsing the neutralizer out leaving no after perm odor and hair that is in great shape. Sometimes fine/thin hair as you describe it is resistant to chemical services and is hard to perm. Use a "pre-art" clarifying treatment prior to the perm service to remove build up and help proper penetration of the perm solution. It is very important to add an extra step into the perm process for fine/weak hair; After the perm solution has been rinsed out very thoroughly(at least 5 mins by the clock!) very carefully blot, not rub the rods. Use plenty of paper towels untill they will not pick up any moisture when pressed again'st the hair on the rods. Apply Redken PPT to all rods sparingly and blot just as before. Leave on a minimum of 5 mins. Reblot and neutralize over the PPT per instructions. rinse again , carefully remove rods and apply more neutralizer, especially to the ends, gently work through for 1-2 mins, rinse, shampoo very gently and use a light conditioner finishing with a cool rinse towel blot dry and you will be happy! Piggy-back wrap the hair with the first rod being a purple rod and a peach rod as the second. good luck. email me if you have any questions. wrb@gorilla.net

If you have hair that damages easily tho,you may want to thoroughly check out all availableperms. I have had bain de terre perms in the past andthey are very gentle in comparison. Cher~

I have med long fine thin hair. It damages easy. Is there a loose perm I can get that will just give me body? If I could get curl, that would be fine too, but I mainly need the body.
