He has tried everything to make his hair behave but it has a mind of its own. I tell him, rest assured you will never go bald! His solution: he keeps his hair cut short. He actually cuts the sides down to GI style, then has the top longer. Like a nice military style. The top is short but longer than the sides. He uses heavy duty gel to make the top behave. It looks nice. Our older son has super thick hair too but more natural curl to his hair. During his teen years, he tried everything to make his hair straight. Relaxers ...you name it ,. the kid tried it. He finally realized he would have to live with his hair and he keeps kind of the same style my younger son does except he can let the top grow a bit longer because it's softer and will behave more. Unless you want to go through all the avenues to see if one of them work for you..i.e relaxers, thinning.. You may just want to go for a short haircut and try some quality conditioners, and gels. There is no way our youngest son could ever grow his hair longer than an inch. I can honestly say I have never seen thicker hair in my life than on this kid. He got quite dismayed over his hair til it finally settled in his mind that he would have to keep short hair. He swears by Aussie's 3 minute Miracle conditioner...says it's the only thing that softens it up and allows him to comb and do the gel routine. I wish you the best.. with having dealt with this with our two sons.. I can identify.. best regards.. Cher~
Ben,from your description, i would suggest having your hair texturized to remove some bulk, maybe even getting a relaxer if your hair is curly or wavy. Otherwise shave it off. ha ha, just kidding. Whenever you get your next haircut, talk with your stylist about options. Your stylist knows your hair best, and can help determine what's best for your hair and the look your trying to achieve.good luckdef
I've had hair problems since I was a little boy. My hair is about 2 inches long, very thick, and extremely hard to manage. I've had my hair grown out longer, but the same problem occurs. After I get done showering and drying it, my hair stands straight up. I've tried conditioning it. This just makes my hair softer, not more manageable. I comb it after I shower every day. Besides alot of hair gel/hair spray, is there anything I can do to make it lay down? Maybe thin the strands some so that they lay down naturally. I'd appreciate any help.
