Perhaps I should clear something up...Now as far as I know the Aveda Pure-Fume Brilliant Shampoo and Conditioner (which I recomend for you) do not use silicones. Instead an intense extracts of Aloe and other botanicals and a dose of emolients which conditon the hair and allow super detangling and moisturising. The detangling is very important because it is so easy to break and further damage already weak hair. Now I'm not totally sure about the rest of the line but I suspect that the use of silicones in the styling products allow the moisture which was already absorbed through the shampoo and conditioner the be locked in. This is definately a good thing as damaged hair tends to dry out. Also lets not forget that with the silicone comes rich botanical extracts and emolients which can only benefit dry, textured hair. I personally would not be so quick to write of the Pure-Fume Brilliant line.. of course as with any hair regimine it's always nice to alternate with other products. Personally I have very dry texured hair and I use the Pure-Fume brilliant and ARTec Textureling Smoothing. Between these two moisture intense lines my hair is the best it's ever been.ThanksKeth'ryn

> Okay I think I know what I am supposed to use now....> Avedas Pure-Fume Brilliant Line. (moisture deprived> and textured) ....Personally I wouldn't use the Aveda Brilliant line on my hair if it were moisture deprived. Most of the Brilliant products are high in silicones... they will smooth out your hair and make it look and feel much nicer and in better condition. However it WON'T actually help your hair regain moisture. Silicones coat the hair, smooth down the cuticle and repell water from the hair shaft, which keeps your hair from absorbing moisture.Personally I only use silicone containing products for special occasions when I want my hair to be especially shiny... when I cut them out of my regular routine I started seeing much less breakage. Your mileage may vary.... I know some people who have had good results from using high silicone products on a daily basis. I have one friend who's hair looks GORGEOUS on a regular diet of aveda's brillant products. But I think if your hair needs to regain moisture it's probably best to avoid really high silicone lines to restore health to it.> what reconstructive treatment would> be best...?You might want to try Aveda's Curessence or Aubrey Organics GPB... I've had good luck with both, even on severe clorine damage.> Can you over condition your hair? II dunno... some people might, but I sure can't! :-) You'll probably be able to tell if you're overconditioning your hair, it will become heavy and stringy and need more frequent washing. If you're using products with a lot of synthetic ingredients or a lot of silicones or waxes they can build up and you'll need to use a clarifying shampoo from time to time... but you probably shouldn't worry about it. If your hair is damaged you should give it as much conditioning as it can suck up.You'll get a lot of opinions on this board and it can be hard to sort through them... you know your hair better than anyone else, so go with what seems right to you. Good luck.-jennifer j

Well.. I have a few product suggestions...I love Sebastian's Potion #9 and Potion #7. #9 is more of a leave in but quite nice. #7 is a wearable reconstructer. They're both good additions to any regimine. Also I've seen Joico's K-pac work wonders for damaged hair. Rusk's Res-Q is great especially for chemical service. Lastly I like KMS Strategy... It's pretty heavy duty but smells a bit funny. I don't know about too much protien but you can definately weigh down and cause buildup. Hope I helped.ThanksKeth'ryn
