Hi Neil...If you look in the HB new links section you will see that we have a special section reserved JUST for curly hair. I have big plans to fill that up with all sorts of links. :-)I have shared email with the three ladies at this link and they are great. I heartily endorse their site.Best wishes,Karen> You might try looking at another site devoted to you> curlyhead gals (and guys too). You might try looking at another site devoted to you curlyhead gals (and guys too). Three ladies from Texas have taken a somewhat light hearted approach, but a lot of serious info has been gathered also, to help you make the most of your curls and tame "the frizz" when it gets out of control. The different sections have useful tips about styling and product suggestions from hair pros and fellow curlyheads with lots of support thrown in along the way. See the link and enjoy your visit, it sort of feels like a private club there. Best wishes for the New Year.NeilRelated Link:naturallycurly.com
I have the same kind of hair texture you have. You have to treat it with kid gloves. For styling, I like ISO's "Defining Lotion", Grahm Webb's "Making Waves" and Aveda's "Confixor". I have tried cream-style texturizers, but they leave me with frizz. Many people have found success with Ouidad's products for curly hair. Just use a moisturizing shampoo, nothing too drying. Stay away from 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioners, they weight your curls down. I always make sure I use a conditioner with detangling properties. With 27 inches of curly hair, I need it!! A defuser is essential, unless you air-dry your curls. I've been known to apply styling gel/lotion, comb it through, shake hair so curl is reactivated, grab fistful of hair (scrunching until it is against my head) and drying it in that position. Your curls will be dried to that shape and will spring in place nicely.Related Link:Ouidad's website
Hi everyone!I have shoulder length (when wet) naturally curly hair which I am trying to grow long (six of months ago I had it cut into that "Darma" style). My curl is the loose kind (think Julia Roberts). As of now, I'm having a bit of trouble finding something that will help enhance the curls, since ironically enough my curl gets straighter when I cut it shorter. If anyone out there has any suggestions on some good curl enhancing shampoos, conditioners, and/or styling aids-- please let me know. Also, if you have any styling tips, they would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!Sherry L.
