It seems to be very difficult to go from Auburn to light brown without the red wanting to come through again. Even if you decide to color at home from now on, I would go to a good stylist who specializes in color to get a really good light brown with blonde streaks the first time. If you try to do it yourself, you might make a real mess. If you want chunky highlights be sure to tell the stylist that you want dramatic separated blonde chunking. If you just say highlighting, she may she may foil it so it all blends which will just sort of lighten your hair overall but won't give you a streaky look. I had to be really specific with mine, because where I live they are into a very "natural" look. I had to specify that I wanted obvious, dramatic blonde streaks. Much to my amazement, I got exactly what I wanted and get lots of compliments, but I really had to go overboard on the description.
I need advice on changing my haircolor. My natural color is light brown. I have had various shades of red for the past 4 years (from auburn to most recently copper). I'm tired of the fading and need a change. I really want to have ALOT of blonde highlights and I'm not sure if I should have all the red taken out and start over or blend what I have now???When I used to foil highlight my hair years ago they had to use some bleach because I have some natural red highlights. How can I get blonde back into my hair color without looking like a freak?? I have about an inch of regrowth showing, my hair is straight and in good condition, but could be on the dry side. Please help someone, I need to decide what to do real soon.
