Yes, in fact, everything from crimping type of rods to carpet pieces are used to give perms all different types of shapes and curls and body. The key is to find a professional (at least the first time) that can do the unusual perm shapes. I read about a shop in the Northwest that used carpet pieces to roll the hair so that it would have big curves and waves. I also read about another salon that tied the hair in little knots to give it a crinkly look. So you could probably do the same with crimping.Look in the yellow pages where you live for a hair salon that "specializes" in either perms or chemical treatments. Call them up and ask if they have a perm specialist that can do unusual perm shapes.Don't let anyone "experiment" on you though. You might get stuck with an unusual perm that you would have to grow out or cut off.Hope that helps.Best wishes,Karen> I have straight, long hair, and I really like the way> it looks when it's completely crimped.
