You might also want to try the Bumble Band. They look like bra straps and are very soft so I doubt they would do any damage. I got one for $10 bucks at beatyofasite.com--you might want to try that-they are also pretty hip right now!Shannon

I think they are really cute. I'm afraid they might hurt my hair. I have very fine hair and it breaks easily. I wish they made them out of plastic. I think I'm going to buy some cute kiddie barrettes and try those. My hair is so thin and fine a mini claw clap can hold all my hair. Thanks

The plastic ones that are for kids wouldn't even begin to hold my hair..they are designed for baby fine hair. I do not use anything metal in my hair. Maybe you could buy barrettes that appeal to you and hot glue a small piece of ribbon inside to protect your hair against the metal. I think your best bet maybe the claw clips.. I don't know what you mean by metal headband things. I don't think I have ever seen a metal headband.. sounds like torture. I do have a few plastic ones but I never wear them. Best of luck to ya.. Cheryl

I also cannot use barrettes. They cause my hair to break off. I have solved this by having the front of my hair cut in feathers and mostly just frenchbraid the back. If I do use something to hold my hair back I use very hair friendly products such as Dawn's lovely hairties or scrunchies. I never use anything with metal anymore and I have noticed a big difference in the hairs that I had thought were baby hairs but which were actually breakage from constant use of metal backed barrettes. I also use the claw clips. I have them in every size. So far they are not causing any harm. Maybe Dawn's new barrette line is more hair friendly than store bought ones.. maybe look into those.. best regards.. Cher~I think I am damaging my hair with the barrettes that> I am using .
