I was shopping for a new richer brown hair color and ended up with black hair. It was fairly easy to do, but I suggest having a friend help. I had gone into Sally's to get a packet of hair color remover, but the lady wouldn't sell it to me because I'm not a licensed beautician. The little packet was suppose to be very easy to do.Also, when you put the new haircolor on, you need to go with a lighter shade. I have med. warm brown naturally. After I used the haircolor remover, I put on a light brown, and my hair just soaked it up and it was darker than I wanted, but much better than black, so it might be a good idea to strand test. GOOD LUCK

I've tried it a few times in the decade I've been coloring my hair, and have had a hard time getting it back to natural that way. I have light, slightly gingery brown hair which is dyed a medium auburn. The color remover just bleaches my hair to a really unappealing straw orange that shows through all the ash browns I've tried over it. It's just not worth the damage unless you are removing black dye. I'm trying to go back to natural now without stripping my hair and what has worked best was a drabber bath followed a week later with a demi that was just a little brighter than my natural color. While this doesn't get rid of all the red, it tones it down and then blends the roots.

I want to get back my natural color, and I'm thinking of using L'oreal Hair color remover to remove the current color, then re-coloring with another permanent tint. I've only used permanent or demi-perm (natural instincts) on my hair in the past.My hair is now medium auburn (lighter auburn on the ends in front), shoulder length with a little damage only on the ends in front. I have about an inch of regrowth. It's in pretty good condition but a little dry. My natural color is a light brown that turns golden in the sun. I'd love to have the brown with some golden, medium blonde highlights.Anyone have experience with this product? Is this the right way to go about it? I'm pretty good with home haircoloring, and can't afford to go to a salon for corrective work. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.
