The best product I have used for the sun is the Phytoplage spray oil. Its not cheap about 20.00 for a can. Its from France and can be hard to find. The people at Macy's a large upscale store did not even know what it was. Nordstrom stores sell it. Contact them at www.Nordstrom.comThey are a 99 store chain that sells high quality products across the U.S. Go to help and then via beauty and they will get you the product from a store because its not in their on-line catalog.Spray it on and comb it in. A can may last a month. Carry a big bottle of tap water with you when you go out skiing. Wet your hair before you go in with the tap water and rinse when you get out. The tap water applied first will fill up your hair shafts and make it harder for the muddy river water to seep in. Protection is very important as well. Try using scarf or big sun hat. Consider getting a swim cap that fits well and keeps out most of the water..Forget the plain tired racing smooth caps that lap swimmers wear, they leak and are hard to put on. Get a vintage floral cap , something that looks wild..Your men will tease you but they will love it too. A classic strap cap in a bright color would go good with some of the bright waterski-wetsuits as well. The bubble creep type are very watertight. Check Nordstrom via personal touch for these if interested they had them in there store by Jantzen just two years ago.(Yes the colorfull floral type) Or check out vintage or thrift stores. Wear the cap on those bad muddy days. If you use it once a week its that much you have protected your hair. Try www.watergear.com for the strap classic caps. They have them in white and purple in three sizes.Speedo makes them in white, black and green, try www.usaaquatics.com. Hit search/ swim caps for more information as we had a thread going on this a couple of months ago

This is different than swimmer's hair...I waterski 2-4 times per week starting April 16 (yes, tax season is almost over) and lasting thru the end of October. Most of my skiing is done on a river, with the alligators, the muddy water, and the SUN! What can I do? Prior years haven't lent themselves to much trouble because my hair was very short. Should I being putting on anything before I go? I'm in and out of the water quite a bit, and out in the sun for about 4-5 hours each day.Laura
