I used Pantene (the old one) for about 4 months before switching to ArcTec. I have long dry hair. For me, they both worked well in cutting down frizz. Pantene left my hair shinier, but ArcTec left it more tangle free.

Hi Amy,I was just wondering, which type of Pantene shampoo did you use-was it the 2in1 shampoo/conditioner, or the shampoo that had the gold cap on top? I know they have a new version out, have you switched to that yet, or are you keeping the same routine going? Do you use the separate conditioner with either shampoo? If so, is the conditioner with the gold cap or the flip-top(Pro-v)in a flat type bottle. Finally, (I know, it's a lot of questions but I'm intrigued by how well you did with this product when I and others had horrible results after some time passed) what was the hair type you used it for i.e. Dry/damamged, permed or color-treated, Normal, you get the idea. Thanks for all your help.Holly

Before I started using Pantene my hair was dry and pretty much dead, now It's healthier than I am. Just joking. I think that Pantene is the best shampoo to smooth your hair, everyone loves touching my hair. Try Pantene for six months and then you'll find out for your self if it works or not.
Hi there!I WAS pretty mucha fan of Pantene BEFORE they changes their scent-- but that's another story. Anyway, if you are going for smoother than smooth hair, I would go with the ORIGINAL Pantene over ARTec-- However, since Pantene has changed thier ingredients, they have also removed the silicone that you are after-- So, overall, the only thing you will probably get is dried out hair (due tot he Ammonium Xylenosulfate, that it still in the shmapoo). In this case, I would stick with a brand like ARTec's Smoothing-- even the new Pantene conditioner cant beat the Smoothing Conditioner (that stuff is GREAT)and ingredient wise, you will be doing your hair a favor in the long run! However, if you like the results that you get with silicone based products (I know that I am a bit partial myself b/c I have curly hair)than by all means search those drug store brands-- I don't think that Finesse has changed their ingredients yet (I know that Pantene, Vidal Sasoon, and Pert all have).Sherry~> Okay, okay, I know that ARTec is way better> "ingredient-wise" but what I'm wondering is:> Which product has more effective smoothing? I can't use the shampoo or my hair will be too oily. I use Aveda Blue Malva and ARTec Smoothing conditioner and I can pick the tangles out in less than a minute.Jeff.
Hi LittleO,I have used both (almost hate to admit that I have used Pantene) and for me, the ARTec smoothing was MUCH betterat *smoothing* my hair.I know this next statement is not specifically in response to your question, but... the Pantene really left my hairdry, but the ARTec does not.Hope this helps.Dave
Okay, okay, I know that ARTec is way better "ingredient-wise" but what I'm wondering is:Which product has more effective smoothing? ARTec's smoothing shampoos and conditioners or Pantene's Silicone Packed shampoos and conditioners?I am just trying to compare both to see if Pantene has the same smoothing effect as ARTec's.Does anyone know?
