It retails for $19.00 with a discount of 20-40% depending on the month.Some women here purchased theirs from an on-line health food store which I can't remember. They liked it, and I think it was even cheaper. You might post something like "Cheap Shea Butter?" and maybe they will respond. Hi, Kay!A hot oil treatment should be done before shampooing. I would recommend either jojoba, wheat germ or olive oil. You can find the first two at most health food stores, the latter at the same or the grocery store. I have listed the oils in order of heaviness (lightest to heaviest). Personally, I love jojoba mixed with a little shea butter or olive oil. The olive is the heaviest, but quickly restores elasticity to damaged hair. Olive oil is also the cheapest, with wheat germ and then jojoba being the most expensive.You can leave the oil in your hair for as long as you like. When my hair has gotten crackly, I have slept with jojoba oil in my hair before shampooing the next morning. Generally, 15-30minutes for maintenance is a good time frame.Some of the commercial hot oil treatments are not that great. Watch out for mineral oil as an ingredient.
