You know I just found a REALLY cool site www.naturallycurly.com - you might want to check it out for product info and so forth. I do have a suggestion as to a hairstyle you could fool around with. I've never used a topsy-tail thingy but I use the concept for my hair all the time for up styles and have gotten lots of compliments on it. Plus if you find a product that helps to define your curl/control the frizz it can really look great. You just put your hair up in a pony tail, take a rat tail comb or your fingers and kinda part and gently pull out the pony tail holder about an inch or so from your head. Take the pony tail and start to pull it through the part you made. Play with it and let me know how it works!

You know it's not even the curl so much as the texture. If my hair were thinner and less course I would not mind the curl at all, like Mariah Carey when her hair was curly. Some people have beautiful glossy spirals! I just have this bush on my head! I am doing an updo definitely for the wedding, but I am sick of just putting my hair up in a bun every day, because it has no style and is so frizzy! I am willing to try anything. I ahve tried frizz ease... my hair just laughs at it as if it were saying .. "ha frizz ease is no match for me, I am SUPER BUSH!!!!!!"

Hi,Another thought too would be to try an updo. Maybe by putting you r hair up for the wedding, it would "calm" the style down. Check through hair magazines and the styles right here on HB and see if something is appealing.Sometimes a hairstylist and you can work together to find the right kind of updo. Hope this helps and let us know how you do.Holly

You sound desperate. I hope we can help you! I too have thick, poufy, wiry, sticky out hair that looks like a mushroom when short.I am religiously trying ARTec smoothing produts as recommended on this site - not too much change there.Today I went to a lovely beauty shop nearby and begged them for some tips. They sold me a $20 product called "Nectar of the Gods". Apparently you put this on after shampooing and towel drying and before blow drying or air drying. I must admit the woman who told me had thick hair, but very glossy. She said hers was normally coarse and pouffy, but this was the only product she had found that made a difference. It is Italian, but there is a Laguna Beach phone no. 888 878 3232. If anyone else has tried this, I'd love to know.Good luck!

I'm right there with you!!!! I have naturally curly hair and it is very hard to find a stylist who has worked with that type of hair. How curly is your hair? Is it like curly like baby spiral or a tad more tame like say Mariah Carey? Mine's more like Mariah's, just as thick (if not thicker)but it's only an inch below my shoulders. I have tried everything to straighten my hair as well as taming the frizzies when it's curly. I have tried all sorts of things from straight perms to olive oil. I use a combination of products now depending on finances and moods: Frizz Ease, ThermaSilk mousse, Pantene spray gel, Pantene hairspray. I don't use them all at once but in combinations. If I want to blow dry my hair straight: frizz ease or thermasilk. If I want curly: spray gel and hairspray. This is already a book... if you would like to know more just let me know!
