its not a dumb question at all!! :)you do want to wash the oils out. the oils work to moisturize, soften, and repair your hair, especially if left on over night. but it looks gross to leave it in, so in the morning you wash it out. the benefits of the oil treatment remain though. hair is silkier and shinier. you might not even need to use a regular conditioner afterwards. several deep conditioners are also meant to be used before shampooing also. hope this cleared things up for you:)

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. Does the coconut oil still work if you shampoo it afterwards? It just seems to me that it would wash out all of the oils. But then I have no idea though! Thanks for your help!> spread through dry hair before you shampoo, and wash> it out. then use regular conditioner if needed. do> this once or twice a week.
I've heard that coconut oil is a great conditioner, so I tried using it a couple days ago. It wouldn't rinse out! I had to re-shampoo my hair! I must be doing it wrong. How do you use it? Thanks!
