Controlling humidity's impact on my hair

Here in Hawaii, my hair gets frizzy really fast and a lot of the leave on conditioners I use just make my hair look oily.I noticed that when I took a trip to California during the wintertime, my hair was super smooth and shiny and very healthy looking. I loved it.Do you know of any products besides Aveda's anti-humectant stuff, which I can't find around this area, that will help out my hair and make it look and feel somewhat how it was in California? I don't want it to dry my hair too much. Sometimes I use a humectant shampoo even though it makes my hair overly wavy, it leaves it very moisturized. Is it wrong to use a humectant shampoo when what I actually want is something anti-humectant?
