Thanks for all the advice! I think I jinxed myself, though. A couple days after I mentioned that I didn't like taking those huge pills, I swallowed one wrong and it lodged in my throat for half an hour! Very painful! I think from now on, I'll cut my pills in half!!!Thanks,Michelle

Hi Michelle,I have been taking H37 and at first was horrified at the size. I am very wimpy with vitamins because about 10 years ago I almost choked on a huge multivitamin pill. I was not paying attention, popped the pill and did not have enough water. Next thing I was choking. A bunch of water later and I was a little freaked. I stopped taking any large pills.However...there is a happy ending. I bought a pill splitter and I always chop all of my pills into pieces. Sometimes I actually crush them and sprinkle them into my morning orange juice or protein drink. When I first tried the H37 I would get niacin flushes. Well it turned out that I was taking it on an empty stomach. I discovered that if I break the pills in 2 parts and take them throughout the day after breakfast and lunch I have no problem whatsoever.A side benefit of the H37 for me is a LOT more energy. At first I though I was imagining things, but nope, it is really there. So whether H37 makes my hair grow faster or not, I like some of the side benefits.I am currently struggling with hypothyroidism (a mild case but requires medication) and the H37 seems to be helping with the side effects from the meds.Anyway...try the pill splitting. It works for me.Best wishes,Karen> Thanks, guys! I appreciate the info, even though it> wasn't particularly what I wanted to hear. At least> now I know. Thanks, guys! I appreciate the info, even though it wasn't particularly what I wanted to hear. At least now I know. And even though most everybody wants a quick fix, especially with their appearance, I know it's going to take a LONG time. Just as long as it's going to take to grow out my hair, I guess! Right now I'm taking HF37, but I really don't want to continue because (and I know this sounds wimpy) I have a really hard time swallowing those huge pills! I don't suppose anyone knows of a good over the counter hair pill that will keep my hair relatively healthy? Anyway, thanks again for the advice!Michelle

Hi Michelle,I agree with Karen. Having struggled with a bit of an eating disorder since HS, I have suffered through bouts of huge clumps of hair loss in the shower and also seriously dry hair from lack of sebum production. I think that the key word here is RAPID wieght loss-- since I have found new ways to achive the appearance I want, I havn't had any bad hair reactions. Remember, 2lbs a week is the only healthy way to go--and while we are talking about diets, PLEASE be very careful of diets that have you eat only protein (the fad now)-- should you ever decide to eat carbs again, the weight will come back :(I know with all things we crave a quick fix, but I beg of you to reconsider any type of diet that promisses "rapid" weight loss-- you are only setting yourself up for hours of stomach pains and rebound weight gain should you ever go off the diet (take it from someone who has been there). HTH :)Sherry> Yes, unfortunately weight loss may cause some hair> loss. I know because it happened to me in 1988. Hi Michelle,Yes, unfortunately weight loss may cause some hair loss. I know because it happened to me in 1988. I went on a pretty strict diet to get really thin and after 30 days on the diet my hair started falling out in clumps. The diet I was on was a version of Oprah's diet...Optifast.I went to see a nutrition expert who told me that any type of change in nutritional habits can cause the hair to shed. Mine shed so badly that it thinned and got split and broken.I had to have about 6 inches cut off my hair and my hairstylist scolded me the entire time. Meanwhile I went home and cried my eyes out.I have found over the past 10 years that anytime I alter my eating in any significant way, my hair will immediately react. Some people are lucky and avoid this, I do not.Right now I am struggling with a thyroid condition and the medication I am taking has made my already dry hair even drier. I am taking H37 which seems to counter the impact and I have upped my daily EFAs which also seems to help.Hair is one of the first things that responds to dietary changes and so it is not uncommon for hair loss to come with weight loss. One way to avoid this is to lose weight very slowly and to up your vitamins and minerals while dieting.Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that is the scoop.Best wishes,Karen> Hi. Hi. I've recently been trying to lose weight, which means a lot of reading about supplements, nutrition, etc. I came across an article on the internet that said rapid weight loss could cause hair loss. =:0 This greatly upset me, especially since I'm also trying to grow my hair to mid back length. Does anyone have any information on this subject? I would really like some advice on some good hair supplements or good foods to eat to try and keep my hair healthy during this weight loss. Thanks a bunch!Michelle
