Then is your daughter financially ready for those touch ups? With teenagers I would suggest something that washes out in a few weeks. Hair color should be fun not a chore. Later in life kids make their own decisions anyways. As mothers we should guide them in the right direction
Sorry, after I read Callie's message I wanted to add that I agree completely; worrying about your looks in Jr. high isn't really worth it, when I began doing stuff with my hair I was a frosh in high school. I just wanted to add that.
I'm not a mom but I was dyeing my hair when I was 15 years old. At first it was semi-permanent, most of the time I used a color shampoo which, as far as I know, was pulled off the market for falling sales. But anyway, if she was my daughter I would let her highlight and every dye her hair ONLY if it was natural, not outrageous or purple or bright red. Even if she is young she has a right to express herself.

She has beautiful mid-back length hair which has about five different colors naturally -- blonde highlights in the summer. Her hair will probably get darker as the years go by. If she were my kid, I'd let her get it professionally hightlighted when she is in high school, but not before. There's a lot of peer pressure to be pretty when you're in high school. If something as simple as highlighting your hair will make you more confident, I'd let you. Another component for me would be that you'd have to pay for it yourself. It can be really expensive and I feel teenagers should pay for those kind of extras.If your case is similar, maybe you could present it to your mother in the same way. Tell her it would make you feel better about your appearance. So long as you are not wanting a drastic new look, I'd be behind you.If you are younger than high school, I'd have a harder time saying yes. The reason would be because I'd want you to be more into being a kid and having fun than worrying about your hair. I'd have to be presented with a really good arguement if you are younger than high school.Good luck, but always remember your mother has your best interest at heart even if you don't think she does!!Callie
