Hi Jodi:depending on the condition of your hair (oily and dry), your hair will need more or less shampooing. i have slightly dry hair and shampoo only every other day. Some people with very dry hair shampoo only once a week. I would not go longer than that without shampooing. Since you're hair has clearly been through an ordeal, I also recommend doing regular intensive conditioing/moisterizing treatments, at least once a week.As far as finding a reputable salon--this is not as hard as it may seem. Keep in mind that good salons are only as good as the people who work there. To begin, I would look for a salon that has been in business for a number of years (at least two), and that has staff that has been professionally working for even more years than that. While high-priced, high-profile salons (ones that advertise in local magazines) will almost invariably deliver quality services (they have a reputation to maintain), you dont always have to go to the most expensive place in town to get good quality.I suggest having a pre-service meeting with anyone who will be "doing" your hair. Ask to see their portfolio if you have doubts about them. You can usually tell whether or not someone is truly professional simply by a conversation with the them, gauging his or her experience and whether or not they are asking you questions about your hair, your preferences, and your lifestyle (such as: do you blow often? do you prefer to take time or not to style your hair?).If someone does not take the time to address your questions, and ask you about their needs, they are not being very professional. Also, ask them about the products they use--are they harsh or damaging? A good salon will use high quality products and will be proud to tell you exactly what they use.I hope this is helpful, Jodi. let me know how things work out for you. silvie:)

Silvie,I don't really know exactly how it went green, they put a lot of highlights in and it went green and I was too afraid to go back there. How do you determine a reputible salon? The salon I went to was my cousins and she has beautiful hair, so I am too afraid to go to other people's salon because of what happened. Also is it good not to wash your hair for long periods of time???Thanks for caringJodi
Jodi-this does sounds like a nightmare. My question is how did your hair become green in the first place--what color or process did the hair dresser do to make this happen?! you should not have been charged for this mistake. My best suggestion for you is to go to a top-notch colorist for a correction. I realize you probably fear the salon at this point, but anything you do at home could make the situation worse. You will have to explain to him/her in great detail all the hair colors and processes you've had done recently so they can gauge a proper correction. Be sure to tell them exactly which brand of color you used, and whatever process the previous stylist did.Having color corrected is a very tricky process, and it is definitely best left for the pros.i hope things get better for you! :) silvie

I got my hair done at a new hairdressers last week and ended up with green hair. I didn't realize until I got home so unfortunately I decided to do it myself and three dyes later my green hair became florescent. I ended up going to any hairdresser that was open on Monday and they cut off 5" and I now have brown, dark brown, red, and green hair. And I have a very bad layered haircut, I am too afraid to go to a hairdresser I am too afraid it can actually get worse but in the meanwhile I have to wear a hat every day. Someone tell me what to do. And I haven't washed my hair since. Is it good for your hair not to wash it. How will any hairdresser be able to even out my hair, since I have so many colors in it???????????Please helpJodi
