Hi PD!Thanks for your response. I did try olive oil once, but my hair seemed VERY sticky. Problems washing it out etc. Good suggestion, though. Will just keep on with trial and error ;-)Briony.> Hi Briony,> well, I see you're doing exactly what I do:) But like> I said, I haven't tried the Honeysuckle. Hi Jade21!I don't do hot oil treatments, but I do do hot conditioner treatments -- pile in conditioner that I really like (after I shampoo), coil it very loosely on the top of my head pop on a light weight shower cap, put a heating pad on top of that and cover it all with a towel to keep the heat in. Then I sit with a good book for 30-40 minutes. I try to do this at least weekly.I also just ordered the Jojoba and Aloe conditioner and a nice big bottle of the GPB, and the Rosemary sage hair rinse from the vitamin shoppe. I'll give the Swimmers' shampoo and the Rose Mosqueta shampoo a try in a bit (used up my wad on that last order ;-( I look forward to them, though!Thank you so much for the advice. I'll try the Dot Method next. I used the Honeysuckle last night and tried about 2 quarter sized amounts -- it felt great in the shower but I think I needed a bit more on the ends. Trial and error, like you said. I just wanted to start out with an idea of how much to use ;-)I will definately check out naturallycurly.com.Thanks again!Briony

Hi, Briony! It sounds like you've got a nice head of hair with some damage, but not irreparable.First, keep doing what you've been doing with the jojoba oil. Do you give yourself hot oil treatments, too? A weekly hot oil treatment might repair some of the damage quicker than the method you have been using, from what I read below. Also, put a small amount on your ends daily. This will quell the dry, split ends.Second, the J.A.Y. shampoo is a good choice for your hair with the dryness and damage, but I would also recommend that you use the Swimmers' shampoo and the Rose Mosqueta shampoo periodically. At this point, both are richer than the J.A.Y.Third, you direct question about how much conditioner to use. Personally, I rarely buy the Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner. It smells lovely, but, in terms of cost, it doesn't do the job. If you are going to use a conditioner in a 4oz bottle, I would suggest the Jojoba and Aloe conditioner. It is extremely concentrated and worth the money. I am sure others would disagree, but this is my opinion. If you have not read my article here, this is the conditioner which I used first and within a few months I switched to the GPB because the worst of the damage was gone.In general, what I have found in using Aubrey's conditioners is the following: I am not using any less conditioner in terms of amount, but am using conditioners which are for hair which is not as damaged. Likewise, depending on the time of the year and weather conditions, this dictates the conditioner/shampoo I will use.Basically, what I do to apply my conditioner is the "dot method." I start at the scalp and work down the length of the hair with small dots. I usually have more dots at the length of my hair, specifically the last four to six inches because that's where I need it the most. After doing the dots, I spread the conditioner throughout the hair and leave on for 20 minutes.I think this is the best advice I can give you. With Aubrey, it's often trial and error. But,I can tell you, that in the beginning, I bought many of those 4oz bottles of Jojoba and Aloe conditioner and no discounts from the Vitamin Shoppe because I did not know about the company at that time. Like you, my hair is long, mid-derriere, and thick and I do go through some conditioner:)I was glad to get past using the J and A conditioner, so I could use the GPB as my staple conditioner which is available in a nice, big 16oz bottle. For me, I have no problems with the GPB in terms of protein making my hair rough or hard, so I buy these bottles by the carload. If I switch for whatever reason, I will try to get a conditioner which has an 8oz bottle like the Swimmers'Conditioner which I used today. [Great stuff by the way--be sure to try this.]If you are interested, we are having an Aubrey Organics survey over at www.naturallycurly.com pretty soon. That is another site I visit and like tremendously , and I am a member. All are welcome, but the focus of the site is for people with some curl to their hair--everything from a non-uniform wave(like me) to kinky, coily hair. I'm sure some of the input from the people there might shed some additional insights on product selection and any problems you might experience, so please wander over:)Bye for now,Jade>Hi! Hi Briony, well, I see you're doing exactly what I do:) But like I said, I haven't tried the Honeysuckle. Maybe Jade can give you some new advice (are you out there Jade?) Have you tried using Olive oil instead of jojoba? It's more moisturizing. Maybe you should use the GPB on most of your hair, and only a bit of Honeysuckle on your tips. Also, the longer you use these products, the healthier your hair becomes, and the less intensive conditioning it requires. So you won't need large amounts of conditioner once your hair has been completely repaired. Take care of yourself,PD> Hi PD,> I guess I just need to experiment and go up in> increments of quarter size dollups. Hi PD,I guess I just need to experiment and go up in increments of quarter size dollups. I DO actually leave conditioner in for 10 or sometimes 15 minutes before rinsing ;-) I also rub some jojoba oil (just a few drops) before I shampoo and actually after I shower. I generally need a handful of conditioner just so all my hair will have some (minus scalp) - but ofcourse I've really small hands ;-)Thank you for advice and for your response! Maybe this Honeysuckle will go farther than I'm used to conditioners going.Briony.

Hi Briony,I haven't tried the Honeysuckle conditioner. I use the GPB. How to get the most of your conditioner? Here's how: instead of using a handful and drowning your hair in it, try this. Use a small amount, but let it sit in your hair longer than you are used to. For me, the GPB works best if I let it sit for 10 minutes before rinsing it out. This is especially important if you are using an expensive product. This way, the conditioner will last longer, and your hair will get the most out of it. Also, I found that if I spead a few drops of jojoba oil through my hair before washing, the conditioner gets absorbed better. Hope this helps,PD> Hi Maria!> Thanks for responding! Hi Maria! Thanks for responding! Yes it took me a bit to get used to the lack of lather, but I have finally gotten over the urge to use more than a quarter size amount of shampoo ( I only use it on the hair closest to my scalp, and thus, above my shoulders). The conditioner, though, is throwing me for a bit of a loop on how much to use ;-) So far I really love AO products. Thanks again, Maria!Briony

Hi Briony :)Isn't Aubrey Organics great? I LOVE their products! Let me see if I can help you. I've only been using their products for a week now and the biggest challenge was trying to get used to shampoo that doesn't lather much. Like you, for the first couple of days I used a glop too hoping it would help it lather more. The thing I've discovered though especially with the shampoos though is, if you take a quarter size amount (I use this much because I have thick past my shoulders hair),concentrate it on the scalp area, and keep massaging it in for awhile you will end up with more lather to the point where it will drip down to the rest of your hair. I really hope that helps. Jade 21 who is a sweetie and KD who is a dear also, might be able to give you some advice concerning how much of the conditioner to use, how to appy it,ect. I don't use conditioners that often, but am thinking of trying Aubrey's and using them maybe once or twice a week depending.Anyways, Briony enjoy Aubrey Organics and if any of us can help you with anything else concerning the products, please let us know okay?Maria :)Related Link:Maria In Mass

Hi! After reading all the posts I had to try AO myself. I first tried the JAY shampoo and the GPB conditioner. I have below waist length, wavy blonde hair, which is medium thickness for the hair shaft, but have LOTS of it. It's damaged from sun, bad products, and the ends, blow drying. Also I used to live near the coast and now live inland and it is MUCH drier than I am used to (and hotter). I liked both the JAY and GPB, but did glop on the GPB. So, my actual question ;-) I just got some Honeysuckle Rose shampoo and conditioner. How much do you generally use of the conditioner? It is SUCH a small bottle (4 oz) and kinda expensive for my wallet. . .so I don't think I can glop it on like I usually do with conditioners (I guess I tend to use 2-4 Tablespoons of conditioner).I know I need to figure out what I need to use for my hair, but a guidline to start from would be great! Thanks.Briony
