i would agree with everyone else. that stuff will just plain FRY your hair!!! so if you're even THINKING about using it, just DON'T !! just get over it. i'm sure you could probably get the same effect using gasoline, but that doesn't mean people do it.if you'd really like to be blonde/lighter THAT badly, then take the plunge & get a professional lightener kit or go see a stylist. at best, sun-in will turn yr hair the color of urine, quite literally.
I used it for a while and had no problems. Everyone kept telling me not to use it and my hair turned out better than it was before. It seems like the darker a persons hair is, the worse Sun In is. Well, I have dark blond hair, so it probably turned out better for me than brunette people. My sister had light brown hair, used Sun In once or twice, and didn't notice much of a change at all. I'd just use very little of it at a time, and I'd only use it once a month or so. I think I used it too often though, because before I knew it my hair was becoming too light and I started growing darker roots, and I didn't want a commitment to hair color. I'm growing it out, and it just looks as if I spent too much time out in the sun. It doesn't take long before it gets too light. If your hair is darker than light ash brown, I wouldn't use it. I always thought brown hair looked nicer than my dark blond-- maybe we could trade? I guess we can't, oh well. I guess I'd probably go to a salon to get highlights done if I had brown hair.

> I don't recommend it for any color hair, especially brown. I have naturally dark blond/light brown hair and used it to touch up my roots between highlights. To avoid the nasty orange color, you must reapply and reapply it. Then, you get a greasy-looking unnatural platinum color. It's gross and doesn't work!
Lori-I agree with everyone's post here. Stay away from Sun In and go with highlights. The problem with Sun-In, from the chemical point-of-view, is that it "lifts" the hair color, but does not deposit any. As a result, if your hair is more brown than blond, you can easily lift your hair into an orange stage! For blonder gals, this is much less of a risk. Regardless of your hair color, however, the product is damaging and fails to deposit anything conditioning, nor does it "fill in" your hair where it has lifted out the color. You will get good, not to mention predictable :), results by visiting a salon and getting some highlights added. I think these are lovely on med brown hair.good luck :) silvie
My daughter used it this summer, and while it looked pretty good for a few weeks, her hair is now rather dull and not as shiny, and it seems to continue to lighten up. Don't do it! Aaaackk! Stay away, stay away! Zees schtuff ees baaad for yourrr hair!Seriously, I tried it several years ago, and not only did I have that lovely, brassy orange color in a bizarre sort-of all-over highlight (think spray paint or glowing), but my hair kept breaking at the ends, as every day, lots of little hair ends fell all over my drafting board. I have med-dark brunette hair, so perhaps the damage was worse for me than it would be for you, but my advice remains not to risk it.Jennifer Eve
Hi have you thought of highlights. I have brown hair and I love them. If you do this use foil not the cap. Amanda Good luck.> I have light/med brown, long, naturally curly hair.
