In every salon I have ever been to the price for women's hair cuts is ALWAYS higher--chicago, NY, london, paris, everywhere. I dont know that anyone can give you a really good explanation for this, other than the factors you already sited (women have more hair, longer hair, etc). frankly, it varies greatly from person to person, so it seems to me it would be more equitable to charge according to length and/or difficulty in cutting (such as if it is usper curly or super damaged, etc.) I guess that would seem unfair, too, though?maybe someone on the hair politics board has more info on this?silvie:)
My stylist of 14 years has moved away. I'm currently looking for a new stylist/salon.I stopped in one of the salons near by to ask a few questions, and found out that they had different prices for men and women. $15 for men and $24 for women. When I asked why the difference, they couldn't really explain. My stylist always spent about 40 minutes on me. I don't think a man's hair would necessarily take less time to cut than a woman's. Women have long and short hair, as do men.I had this feeling that they might not spend the time needed on me.Is this common practice? I've never experienced this before (and I followed my previous stylist to 3 different salons)Thanks.
