Thank you!to answer your question, yes it is possible to strip tint from hair, however, permanent tint has altered the natural color as well, so when you remove the tint you are not left with the original grey but a yellowy color

I asked this same question a few months ago, both here and at several salons. The answers were all - DON'T DO IT! They said that when you "strip" the color out of your hair, you strip ALL of the color and leave it in a completely disgusting condition (the way they described it, it didn't even sound like hair anymore). Then for it to look like anything, you have to re-color it to your natural color. The reason I wanted to strip my color was so that I wouldn't have any color left. If I had to re-dye it anyway, what would be the point? I have now been growing out my roots for 3 months and I'm going to get my hair cut REALLY short next week. I'll be FREE at last! YAY!My unprofessional advice - don't do it. One suggestion that was given to me was to use semipermanent color until my roots grew out long enough to get it cut. I didn't want to go that way because I didn't want to use ANY color even though it claims to be semipermanent. How exactly could I match it to my roots anyway? There is currently a post on this forum of someone who writes that semipermanent color messed up her hair. You might want to read it.Good luck!Alicia

You have to grow it out because permanent colourings are inside of the hair. And if you blond it you get another colour not the original.

Hi. I have permanent dark coloring over my gray hair. Now I'm thinking perhaps I'd like my gray back. Is it possible to strip color out of hair? Thank you!
