Hi, Roberta! You definitely have not been leaving the conditioners on your hair long enough. My hair is in excellent condition and I leave any Aubrey conditioner on for at least 15 minutes. For you, I would recommend 20-30. In my mind, with a conditioner, the longer the better:)I do believe that you should be doing weekly hot oil treatments at this point. I also think you should be doing the overnight thing, if at all possible. In other words, leaving in your hair the night before you shampoo. I don't want to insult you in any way, but some folks have been routinely using the hot oil treatment with wet hair, much like a deep conditioner after shampooing. Please do your hot oil treatments as pre-shampoo treatments:)With the oils, my best advice says go with olive, it is a heavier oil but will help fast. In a month, you should notice a substantial difference in your hair. As an alternative, you could also do a jojoba/shea mix. Several folks have had great luck with this. My recipe is 1/4 shea butter to 3/4 jojoba oil. This is percentages, not cups, as someone recently asked me. Shea butter can be quite expensive. Before I knew better, I paid $16.00 for 4oz, La Natura brand from the Vitamin Shoppe. A great source of the shea butter and the oils in larger sizes is a place called Victorian Greenhouse. I will leave the link for you. They sell primarily to small business people, so prices are lower, but the quality is quite good. There, you can get 1 pound of shea butter for $9.Basically, what I think might help is to do weekly hot oil treatments as described and to definitely leave the conditioners in much longer. You sort of framed your question as an either/or one. Do both to see some relief:)The other thing is that your hair can be fine and also be thick and heavy:)Hope this helps...Bye for now,JadeRelated Link:Victorian Greenhouse

It might be beyond help. I tried the Jojoba and Aloe and GPB and the GPB left it a lot less tangled but my hair still feels dry and and not very silky. I only leave the conditioners on for maybe 3 minutes so maybe I need to leave them on longer. Would hot oil treatments work better? Which oil? I don't think my hair is fine like I originally thought but it is heavy and thick which is why too much product can weigh the top down.> I tried Aubrey Organics Swimmers conditioner and it

I tried Aubrey Organics Swimmers conditioner and it left my hair a tangled mess when wet. When I tried a detangler it was too much and weighed my hair down. Since AO doesn't have silicones do any of the conditioners leave your hair tangle free?
