I agree that curly hair should never be brushed. My hair is loosely curly, and when I was younger I wore it long and brushed it daily...it was frizzy and damaged and split. Now that I have learned from an enlightened stylist that I don't have to, and in fact should never brush, my hair is healthier and shinier and my curls are more defined. Brushing can be very harmful to curly hair. YOu will hear that you have to distribute the sebum to the hair shaft, but if you wash your hair as often as most modern folks do, this is a moot point, you're just washing the oil off anyway. Use a good conditioner, and apply a drop of jojoba oil to your ends if they are dry, instead. And definitely do not ever brush wet hair. Use only a wide toothed comb or pick with smooth teeth. Brushes are not for detangling. If your hair is tangled, carefully use that wide-tooth comb, working from the bottom up.It's great to see curly-heads leaving the curls natural...stay curly!

Any suggestions or experience?Hi Michelle,I'm afraid my sister inherited the curly hair in my family, but I can relay to you her feelings on brushing. She tells me that she NEVER brushes her hair. The closest thing to a brush she lets near her hair is a wide toothed comb when it's wet. She claims that a brush just frizzes her hair out and makes a worse mess of it.I hope this helps in some way.

Any suggestions or experience?Michelle,It's not a good idea to brush your hair when it's wet, no matter your hair's texture, because doing so can cause individual strands to stretch and snap. Try combing it when it's wet, and wait until it's dry before using the brush. Hope this helps.Dave
