There's only one way to get rid of translucent red tones: bleach to yellow, then tint back to brown.
You probably don't HAVE to go all the way to pale yellow... yellow-gold is probably good enough. The hardest part is figuring out what formula to use to get back to where you want to be.
If you're trying to get to medium brown, try bleaching to yellow with just a hint of gold, then coloring with level 4 violet-base Clairol Second Nature and 10-volume developer for 35-45 minutes (20 volume will probably make the color too dark). Have Artec coco-bean and blue orchid shampoo handy... if it comes out too light and you don't have time to re-do it, it'll save the day.

How do I get rid of the reddish oranges tone of my hair when it is shine with sunlight? Any suggestion for a home colourant system that lightens my hair two shades lighter with out looking orangey in the sun?
