You cannot lift color with color. It is chemically impossible. In fact, if you added another color onto the previous color, even if it is a lighter color it will go darker. You will be adding pigment onto pigment and it can only go darker.

Ok, firstly.. anyone used the new review L'Oreal Couleur Experte? If so, comments?
Secondly, a friend of mine has dark brown-ish hair. She dyed it a while ago (had blonde highlights) and has grown it out, her hairs in very good condition (considering she started from chin length, cutting the bleach out!!) now. She's sticking to her roots, so to speak and wants some colour (light brown) to chop up the 1 colour she has now.
As she's growing it out, she still has some tint in it, and apparently she's been told she can't have a tint on a tint, without going to bleach (which, she clearly doesn't want!).
So, the question from her is: IF she had a semi-perm colour (say, darkerish brown) over her whole head, is it possible to have light brown (whether perm, or semi perm) over the first colour?
