It can if it gets really damaged.

You can prevent this by using a good leave-in conditioner before you swim each time.

Try Redken Swim Cream or Paul Mitchells The Conditioner.

I really really want to bleach my hair, but i am worried that it is going to turn green. I am a swimmer and teach swim lessons and live at the pool, so I am always in the chloriney mess. Will my hair turn green or some other funky color? is there any dye that will work better than the rest? thanky.
