OoHhh...sorry cassie, I did misunderstand you.
OK, then I'm going to recommend HIghlights insted of all over color...just because I love the look.
In fact I'm a brunette with tawney hlts.
If you feel that you have to do this on your own....which of course I don't recommend....then you will need to use permanent color in an ash tone....blue beige... in order to counter act the gold and orange your dark hair has naturally.
Maybe some of the posters here have had good luck with a particular color line....hopefully they will post that info for you.
I don't understand...Why do I need a color remover? Perhaps, I should have been a little more specific. When I said I wanted my hair back to the golden brown color, I should have said that the color a natural change from being out in the sun all summer. I didn't put any dye in it; I thought my hair was so pretty in the summer time and now I'd like to have that color all year round. My hair naturally became darker in the winter time. I'm now saying what color would I use to acheive the dark tawny golden brown I once had as a child. cassie
It sounds like a pretty serious color correction, you will have the current color removed from your hair.
COLOR DOES NOT REMOVE COLOR. A color remover will need to be used.
After the color is removed you will most likely have bright tones and possibly base tones to deal with...so the color you will choose to tone back to a natural looking color, WILL DEPEND on what what your hair looks like after the current color is removed.
My best reccommendation;;;;Find a Stylist that specializes in color correction.
Hello all, Let me just proceed my situation w/the fact that I haven't seen my golden brown hair color since I was a child. I used to have beautiful dark tawny brown hair in the summer time and now since I'm in the mood for experimentation, I want it back. I have several questions about this:
1) In order to get this particular hair color, I need to do a permanent color. Now is this really wise to do? My current hair color now is the darkest brown, same color as black coffee. I figured to get this color I need to go one or 2 shades lighter. Unless they have a semi-permanent that I don't know about, I don't know how else I could get the color. Could going one shade ligher do much damage to one's hair?
2) I'm still really confused on what shades to that will match my undertones. My hair is brown, but the undertones are cool. Also I'm African American w/ both cool and warm tones in the skin, so I'm losts on that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! cass
