Sometimes it is as shocking to the designer what may happen to your hair. She is probably worried sick about your hair, are you on meds? Did you put anything in your hair between coloring jobs? This all affects color, I would give your stylist a chance, if it is free, to help you out, sometimes these things are beyond her control, give her the benifet of the doubt!
I'm sorry to hear this happened to you! Hearing stories like these make me glad I color & highlight my own hair. It sounds like she has even been to beauty school and I think I know more about color principles than she does. For example, when she toned if she would've used a natural base the green wouldn't have come up.
I would ask for the treatments at that salon but from another stylist. I feel they owe you a lot more than that. Just take extra special care of your hair and try gradually trimming off the damaged parts if you want. I just bought a great shampoo and conditioner combo today by Tigi Catwalk called Honey & Oatmeal or vice versa. It's supposed to be extra strenghthening and conditioning for color treated or damaged hair. Also this is the BEST smelling shampoo and conditioner I have ever smelled and I'm not kidding. It's almost intoxicating. It smells so wonderful. When my husband saw it he was like what did you get now b/c they were each 33.9oz so he thought I spent a fortune on the set but it was actually only $22 which is a steal. He smelled it and was like Whoa! This stuff smells great! It may work well for you along w/the extra treatments.
The NI sounds like a good idea. If you are worried about going to dark you might want to try a shade or 2 lighter.
I hope everything works out!

On Saturday 2/21 - I went to the salon to have color and highlights done... my hair is naturally a very dark brown and fine in texture. My stylist put on a level 5 color which turned out a level 2... my hair really held on to the color... it looked black. She put the highlights in (only in front / crown area as I wanted)... they turned yellow orange... she tried again and I am not sure what color it was, but not good... she put in a toner to make them a "beige blonde" and they turned green... then she added a demi color to the streaks and they were still green... this is now 5 hours later the salon is closing... she puts more of the demi color (dk brown) in and has me go home like that!!!! And wash out when i get home... oh, did I mention that after the second try at the highlights my hair was now so fried there that the hairs were breaking off!
She also did 2 soap caps in the middle of all of this to try to have my hair let go of some of the blackness...
So now... I am mostly dark all over - but feel like I am a calico cat... when I look at my self I see dark brown, reddish brown, streaks that are an ashy color with a slight green tinge... My husband says... it doesn't look as bad as what I describe it...
I can't believe all of this... I've had color and highlights before... not like this!! I think because the streaks she put in were chunkier that made the whole damage worse. Oh, where the streaks were going to be - my hair has broken off... so I am left with some hairs that are in my bang area and on top of my head that are 2 inches long or so!!! I am disguising it as best I can... my hair is to my shoulders - bangs were long to my cheek with layers that framed my face and in the back it is slightly layered - so it can flip up...
She has offered to give me conditioning treatments every 7-10 days until my hair is better... I just feel sick to my stomach even thinking of sitting in that chair again. She's called me 2x to check on me.
Are there home treatments (conditioning) that I can do? I am using Redken Emergencee at night and leaving it in until morning.
When can I use a color like Natural Instincts to cover over? And what should I use... clove would be closest to my natural... but will that be too dark - should I go with a lighter shade than clove - my hair seems to really absorb and hold color?
