I have the same problem. My advice is -- don't put any red dye on your hair!
If I put even a neutral shade on my hair it goes really red. Neutral dark blonde turned my highlighted hair peach. The only way I've found to counteract the red is to use an ash shade. I got rid of my peachy hair with Nice 'N Easy Light Ash Brown. It's important to do a strand test first, though. I have naturally auburn hair so it's possible that my hair goes a lot more red than yours. If an ash shade gives your strand test a greenish tone, you could try mixing an ash shade with a neutral. It's well worth taking the time to strand test, though, to make sure you get the balance you're looking for.
I'm sure that the consultants at Clairol are trying to be helpful, but none of their suggestions have ever worked well for me.
Good luck. I hope you get the colour you're looking for.
My user name is WAY too long. Just call me Juliana. :-)
Good afternoon - I''m hoping someone here as some ideas for me. I''m normally a medium to dark brown and had my hair done to dark blonde at a salon several months ago. Now it''s starting to grow out.
Now, I want to use a box color ($$) and go back a little darker - just a little closer to my natural color.
I called Clairol who suggested that I go red first then light brown immediately following.
BUT...my hair goes red REALLY and I mean REALLY easy.
I certainly don''t want to turn green, but I''m afraid that I''ll go red if I do this.
