If your hair were bleached or natural, I'd suggest using mayonaise. You can put it on your hair and leave it for an hour under a plastic bag, then wash it out and it does wonderous conditioning....However, since your hair is bright pink, I don't think I would do it because you never know if the vinegar in the mayonaise will remove some of your color. It might cause you to have to redye if it removes your color and that would just be worse for your hair.

Thanx for all your help. I put the pink on and it went pink in bits really!! But it looks kinda funky!!

As to the condition, it is still quite bad. Can get my comb thru it now with much less hair comin out in my hands. Have only washed it once and have been using leave in conditioner every few days. So feels a little softer!!

Anything else anyone can suggest to improve condition? Used Superdrug leave in stuff and homemade egg and oil stuff. Preferably need non animal tested products!!
Cheers!!!!

If it's a browny red thick color, it may be okay. You have to be careful with white because all the colors are going to look a lot brighter, and you may not get something that really looks natural. Just to be safe, you may want to get a color depositing shampoo that doesn't contain henna.

The reason henna is a no no is because if your hair has been bleached blonde or white, your hair will pick up the green and blue of the henna and not the color it was supposed to. The big problem with that is henna can't be dyed over, the dye just rinses right off, even permanent dye. Also, bleached hair is so porous, the henna will not wash out and be temporary like it's supposed to...so there's no way to fix the green other than cutting it off. (I know, I did it, it was very depressing).

The pigment depositers look sort of like paint in the bottle...is your auburn one a thick browny red color that you can't see light through? If so, that's probably it. Some shampoos claim to enhance color by having herbs in it (like, for blondes it may say it contains marigold to "enhance the blonde" or something like that), those don't really deposit color like the painty ones, and they tend to be translucent in the bottle.

Thanku 4 all the replies! They've been great!

I think I will either do the pink, pigment enhancing shampoo or another semi perm colour.

When u say pigment depostiting shampoo, do u mean like the colour enhancing ones? I have auburn ones of those, but not sure if that is right?!!

the pink should work fine over orange.it's happend ot me numerous times, but pink dye is one of thoes colours that works over most shades.
it'll look quite cool, obviously the pink wil be brightest at the root area and it'll carry on down getting darker.

The only part of your hair that is going to get healthier is your new growth. Since hair is already dead, once it's damaged there is nothing you can do to actually repair it. Conditioning can make it look better, feel softer and prevent breakage, but that's it. It's not actually healthier.

How long are the ginger ends? Is cutting them off an option? You could also try bleaching only the ends, but this is risky and will cause further damage.

As for getting rid of the nasty colour -- you could try a semi-permanent colour like ColorSpa (Castings) or Natural Instincts. You might be able to get a decent colour with a shade like Natural Instincts Linen 06 (medium ash blonde). It should give you a neutral to warm medium blonde. You may need to go a shade darker to cover your ends. Semi-permanent colours are quite gentle and shouldn't cause more damage.

Whatever shade you choose, make sure you do a test strand first to avoid ending up with a worse colour disaster on your head.

When applying the colour, start at your roots and pull it through to the ends.

Good luck. :-)

P.S. SusanW and I must have been writing answers to your post at the same time. Her idea about colour deposit shampoos is a good one. You might want to try that first. :-)

If your hair is white at the roots, its been seriously bleached, and I wouldn't do anything else to it. You can always try dying it some color, but my experience with bleached white hair is that its so porous the funny base colors always show through and the dye always washes out relatively quickly (even permanent).

You wanted to go pink? If you want to be pink you could probably do that if there are no warnings on the pink against using it on white bleached hair.

Otherwise, you can try to cover your hair with a pigment depositing shampoo until it grows out more (which they make in brown, red etc....I'd suggest using both a warm red and a brown to get an auburn color that may cover the white best). Several companies make this shampoo...Complements is one brand which you can buy at Sally beauty supply, and there are other brands.

Do NOT use henna on bleached hair. That will give you blue green hair that won't wash out.

Hi!
I bleached my hair with a home bleach kit as I was planning to go a funky pink and wanted to get rid of the dark brown I had.
Needless to say it went wrong, I have white roots and ginger ends and it is very damaged. I'm doin everything right now I think, conditioning, combing and washing as little as possible and drinkin water etc to get the condition back.
The problem is that I now have a horrible colour!
I can wear hats of course until my hair heals, but it looks daft. I do not want to dye again as I'm afraid of more damage, but can anyone advise if there is something I can use to change colour that won't damage my hair further? Or should I just wait and leave it for a few months(!)?
Please help?!!!
