Well, in that pic my hair does appear nice and red/orange, now it's a little browner. I was just hoping I could recapture that look somehow and have it still look natural.

Audreyhorn.....not a question on hair but is your name really Audreyhorn?....the reason that I am asking is that my favourite character from my favourite tv series of all time has the same name....and I thought u where maybe using that as an alias!?

Auburn, I think of as being a very brownish red (or somewhat reddish brown, depending on how you look at it). I think your hair looks pretty much just a natural red, although natural reds are generally rather orange. So I guess both the "red" people and the "orange" people were right.
Redken Shades EQ is a professional color...you used to need a license to get it, but I guess not anymore. I've never used it myself, but I have heard wonderful things about it from colorists.
Ok, I dunno if my hair is "orange" or "red"..people have told me both and it sounds silly. I'm not the best at describing these things.
is the redken recommendation..is that a shampoo? right now I'm using something similar (i think) called aveda's madder root, but what you've described sounds gorgeous and I'm gonna check it out.
to give you guys a better idea, here's a picture taken of my hair a few years ago in the sun looking extra pretty..those are the kinda highlights I want.

if youve used SunIn in the past, then all of your hair isnt exactly virging. Also, ORANGE? I would suggest you go for a more attractive shade of it like Redken Shades EQ in Papaya with a 30 volume.Its a beautiful orange citrusy color that would look beautiful with auburn hair. Dont use a drugstore highlighting kit that contains bleach, because it can process unevenly and you may have blonde as opposed to "orange".
don't use sun in sprays, they do more damage than good.
You're highlights will probably not look natural, if you want the highlights to look natural you shouldn't bleach them too light. A good idea would probably be to use a highlight cap a take thin hair strands and apply a heavy blue base high lift color with 40 developer, if you've got very much red pigments in your hair you'll might have to add some blue intensifier to cancel out all the orange.
If you go for a color that does not say ash, it will probably go orangy (like said above), but it's bound to be better for your hair than Sun-in (which is incredibly drying).

Well, if you want your hair to look orangey, home highlight kits will generally do that. You might be the one case they're ideal for-- most people don't especially want that result ^_^; . Natural-looking, though, they are not :-P .
I'm a natural auburn head. However, I'm worried my hair's turning brown/dull (my mother's did the same thing when she was my age)... so what I use aveda color enhancing shampoo and lately I've sprayed sun-in in my hair.
But I was wondering if there are any highlight kits I could use on my hair that would look completely natural? I'd get my friend to help me do it but I just don't know what to do/what brand for my hair! I guess I want lighter highlights to make my hair look more orangey.. When I've used Sun-in in the past I've gotten compliments. ANY advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
