Thank you SO MUCH! :) It is really helpful.

Ok, one more question from me. How about conditioning? I heard about no silicones in hair care when having extensions. Is it true? Is it ok to use conditioning products which do not have cones?
Can I use a protein treatment (like Nexxus Emergencee) to strengthen my hair when having extensions?

Sorry for all of these questions, but I want to care for my extensions and my hair properly.

Martina

Martina, about brushing...My stylist just told me to start as far up above the bond as you can and use quick, short strokes. I also flip my head over to get all of the ones underneath. The point of brushing is to try to help your regular hair not get tangled in the bond. I am talking about the hairs that would naturally fall out of your head if you didn't have the extensions. Those are still going to come out, as they should, and brushing will help the tangling. I hope that makes sense and helps!

This may be a stupid question, but how do I brush closer to the bonds without tugging on the hair? The ends are not a problem, but I am afraid pulling my hair out if I try to brush higher. Thank you for helping a newbie!

Hi! I have Great Lenghts extensions and love them. The big rule that my stylist says to follow is to never let your bonds air dry. If you want your hair to air dry, that is fine but hit the bonds real quick w/ your hair dryer so they aren't left damp. Make sure you brush often too. You'll be thankful when you get them removed or replaced. I had about half of mine replaced yesterday and most slid right our w/out any tugging or pulling since I brushed. A few were tangled but that's to be expected after 5 months! My regular hair looked great! I was really suprised how long it had gotten and what good shape it was in. It's almost as if the extensions protected my regular hair. Hope that helps!!

I just got my Great Lengths a few days ago as well, and I have been using Redken Anti-Snap on the ends, as they seem exceptionally dry. I wouldn''t use any product on the rest of the hair, because apparently we''re supposed to avoid silicone and sulfur on the bonds-- And just about every product contains those.

Mine were originally 20 inches, but I HAD to cut them... The hairdresser who out them in razored the ends and it looked horribly choppy and raggy. Now it''s probably to my bra strap... The ends look better, especially with the leave-in and a flat iron.

I''m hoping my hair can withstand the 20 mins of blowdrying and ironing everyday, but time will have to tell...

Hi,

I got my Great Lengths hair extensions last week and so far they seem to be fine. However, I keep hearing about taking care of them properly and keeping the conditioner off the roots. So here are my questions:

Can I put leave-in conditioner in my hair?

What does it mean caring for them properly? Are there things I should not do?

Please share your experience with me, since my stylist was helpful, but I thought that you ladies have even more day-to-day practical advice. I would so appreciate the help!!!

Martina
