First off, congratulations!

As far as doing it now or experimenting with different hair, if you've made those pretips, I would do a few test strands before you do your whole head. Shrinkies are getting rave reviews, but I think it sometimes takes awhile to get the heat:time ratio down right, and with any method, I think it's best to test a few anyway. If you have extendtubes around, you might want to test a few of those, too.

As I said yesterday, the PlastikHaar looks lovely, as does the Dome (a bit shinier, but I've heard it wears very well). I fully intend to put in both brands next time I do my hair so I can compare and contrast (the colors are so similar, it's quite possible to mix them).

Good luck! :)

I just finished off about 30 pretips using AMM's AWESOME technique and a bag of synth hair! AMM,
fantastic tutorial! Thank you. Liquid Gold glue - easy to work with. Nail glue going on tomorrow after they cure a bit. And for anyone who's afraid: AMM is right. It's very easy to get great results with your pretips- just follow her directions. I even went so far as to trim the glued ends up a bit to make them even and uniform. OMG- I can't believe what new world has just opened up! A world of not being a slave to expensive and exploitative hair businesses - ahhhh. Let the creative juices flow.
Also, all you knowledgeable and glamorous hair divas have convinced me to go shrinkie. I have worn extensions since 1990 - all sewn-in wefts (except one episode of pinchbraiding which looked gorgeous but slid out of my fine hair in a week). Recently I've had a RASH of bad bad hair - all of it supposedly 'remi' 'cuticle' 'virgin' or whatever, all of it expensive. This particular batch has shed so badly in two weeks that there is barely any hair on the weft. It's coming out tomorrow and I want to get off wefts entirely...but I'm scared of glue! I was dead set on microrings, but so many of you whose opinion I respect are crazy for shrinkies, I figure what the hell. The order to Dr Locks is in.
Now the question is...do it NOW, or experiment more with different hair? Jenny got her Plastikhaar, I've read other raves about Dome, and posts on other misc synths...what to do what to do.
Anyway, THANK YOU AMM and THANK YOU everyone else whose posts have inspired and empowered me!
Your sister in the eternal quest for beautiful hair,
Syren
